Our goals and values as contractors

Quality Matters

Hi, I’m Robert Hamerly. I started GreenSavers at my kitchen table at my home in Bend, Oregon. Prior to starting GreenSavers, I spent the majority of my career in the trades, building new homes and installing HVAC systems in Central Oregon.

As contractors, we are often incentivized to do projects as quickly as possible and for the lowest cost. While it’s important to keep costs down, it is also important to value the energy efficiency and overall quality of the systems that we install for our clients. Our clients receive better performance and save more money over time with well-designed, energy efficient HVAC systems and equipment at home. A better use of resources benefits our entire society.

I have long believed that contractors can do better, and that’s exactly why I started GreenSavers. That’s also why we offer every client a 100% satisfaction guarantee on each of our services.

At GreenSavers, we make it our goal to set ourselves apart from other home performance and insulation contractors in Bend, Oregon. We handle home improvement from the perspective of the entire home; when we recommend a particular upgrade or service, we also consider how this change will affect the other areas of your home, from air quality in your bedrooms to the moisture in your bathrooms.

Our energy efficient systems are designed to perform well for the long term. For instance, the Rheem heat pump water heaters that we install can save a family of four about $330 a year, adding up to $3,470 over the entire life of the system (Source: ENERGY STAR). Another benefit of the Rheem water heater is its stainless steel elements, which prevent buildup and help extend the life of the water heater by almost 3 years. We apply the same attention to detail in all of the systems that we recommend to our clients, from insulation to windows with a lifetime guarantee.

In January 2018, we became the first dedicated home performance contractor in the world to earn B Corp certification. B Corps are companies certified by the nonprofit B Lab to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. Another way to think about it - B Corp certification is to business what Fair Trade certification is to coffee or USDA Organic certification is to milk.

Looking to the future, we're inspired to go beyond energy efficiency, helping clients live in homes with no net energy consumption. This means making homes highly efficient, then installing solar panels to offset any energy drawn from the grid. That's a future we can get behind.
